Don't waste a drop....

Drink up, Buttercup.

How well does your body use the water that you’re drinking?

If drinking a glass of water has you doing the peepee dance to the bathroom a few minutes later then your fascia is so dry that the water passes right through you.  You’re accelerating physical aging and you’re creating a cascade of health problems.  Simply drinking water isn’t enough to fill the fountain of youth, however.

Let’s use houseplants as an example of water’s journey.

WeI’m not great at taking care of houseplants.  They can live right next to the kitchen sink but it won’t mean they’ll get watered!  It’s tough love at my house!

So, when I do water my plants, sometimes, the soil is so dry that the water runs right through the pot and settles into the dish below.  This is the plant’s version of the peepee dance.  The water doesn’t get absorbed into the roots to nourish the plant.

Think about fascia as your roots and the surrounding tissues as the soil.

HOW DO YOU KNOW THST YOUR FASCIA IS DRY….

When your fascia is dry you’ll experience joint pain, muscle stiffness, poor digestion, aging skin, crummy sleep and the embarassing compulsion to squirm, shimmy and RUN to the bathroom!

Drinking water alone will not get the water into your fascia.  Fascia, like a kitchen sponge, has to have a bit of moisture available to absorb more fluid.

Have you ever reached for a dry sponge to collect a spill on your countertop?  The sponge doesn’t absorb very well when it’s dry.  You have to have a bit of moisture and that’s the same thing when it comes to fascia.

You can thank your body’s natural ability to create hyaluronic acid in your fascia which ideally maintains fluid for your cells to have a little drink whenever those cells thirsty.

We’ve already established that I’m not the plant expert, but I can help you use the water that you’re drinking, rather than peeing it out and stressing your kidneys and bladder in the process.

Here’s the story, Morning Glory.

Drink a glass of water then treat yourself to a MELT soft ball foot treatment.  Drink another glass of water after the treatment.  You’ll be giving your body enough water to work with during the treatments and you’ll begin to rehydrate your body all the way down to your 37.2 trillion cells.  When your fascia is juicy you’ll

Lubricate your joints
Give you muscles more flexibility
Poop like a champ
Give your skin moisture from the inside
Nourish your stomach to maintain healthy gut microbiome which supports your immune system
Save yourself from the peepee dance

While most substances that you eat are not delivered to the bloodstream until they reach the small intestine and ultimately pass through the liver, water is one of the few substances that can begin the absorption process right from your stomach.

THE STOMACH ACID AND HYDRATION CONNECTION….

If you’re as dry as a neglected houseplant, your stomach will not absorb the water.  This results in a cascade of health concerns.  One big concern is a decline in the production of hydrocholoric acid (HCl) in the stomach.  You want an adequate amount of stomach acid.  Surprisingly, most symptoms of low stomach acid can feel like you have too much stomach acid and you’ll be diagnosed with heartburn, GERD or acid reflux.  Let me know if you’re living on PPI’s like prilosec and I’ll tell you more!

Remember, it’s not about how much water you’re drinking, it’s about how well your body uses the water that you drink.

Elisha Celeste of Body Mobility Mastery says that fascia wraps all of the blood vessels, from the tiniest capillaries to the largest arteries and veins.  Since these blood vessels are the means by which water is transported to every cell in the body, then vascular health is water wealth and vascuoalr dis-ease is a water crisis.

When the deepest layers of fascia become injured or dehydrated, you lose elasticity and flexibility.  You’re also losing access to blood and tissues become atrophied and even “die.”

WHAT”S THE BEST TYPE OF WATER?....

Coconut water is one of the best fluids to drink during this hot and sweaty summer.  Coconut water is high in naturally occurring electrolytes.  Electrolytes are ions that have the ability to conduct electricity.  They’re always present in the human body and their balance is essential for normal function of our cells and organs.

Electrolytes are actually minerals; sodium, potassium and chloride.  Electrolytes can change when the level of water in the body changes, which is what happens when we sweat.  This is why athletes including pickleball enthusiasts need to refuel their electrolytes!

Keep your tissues juicy for maximum health.  Drink.  MELT.  Repeat.
